Year 9 Selective Entry High School (SEHS) for 2027 entry to Melbourne High, Mac Robertson Girls, Nossal High, Suzanne Cory and John Monash.
Year 9 SEHS Examination date is not set published. Based on last year SEHS exam date, we presume the exam date this year is set on Saturday 20th June 2026. Melbourne High school takes 308 boys, Mac Robertson Girls’ High takes 250 girls, Nossal High and Suzanne Cory High each will take up to 200 boys and girls. All current Year 8 students (Australian citizens or residents only) are eligible to register Year 9 selective entrance examination. Students will be tested on Reading and Verbal Reasoning (55 minutes), Mathematics and Quantitative Reasoning (60 minutes), and Persuasive and Creative Writings (20 minutes each). These tests are not necessarily based on curriculum but not beyond Year 8 syllabus. The selective entrance exam this year will be conducted by ACER.
Current Year 9 students can register for Year 10 Selective Entrance Examination to gain entry at John Monash Science school and the four selective schools above. The Year 10 entrance exam date is set by each school, hence the exam dates would be different. To find out the exam date set by each school, please follow the school links on the next paragraph.
INTENSIVE COACHING PROGRAM (ICP)
This course is aimed at helping students to gain entry into Melbourne High, Mac Robertson Girls’ High, Nossal High, Suzanne Cory High and John Monash Science schools. Our Intensive Coaching Program (ICP) is conducted once a year from the beginning of Term 2, which is scheduled to commence on Saturday 2nd May 2026 and Sunday 3rd May 2026.
How to join the ICP?
Students who are currently in Year 7, 8 and 9 level can attend the ICP course. Prior to joining the ICP course, all students are required to sit for ICP Entrance Exam, which is set on Saturday 28th March 2026 at the University of Melbourne (subject to its availability). There will be two addition ICP examinations scheduled on Sunday 26th April 2026 __ one is scheduled in the morning and the other in the afternoon.

Exam Date: ICP exam is scheduled on Saturday 28th March 2026 between 9.30PM and 12.30PM.
Exam Venue: The Wilson Hall inside The University of Melbourne (Parkville).

Wilson Hall is located at Parkville Campus. Students can get to the University of Melbourne by TRAM. Parents can drive into the university to drop off and pick up children via Gate 10 on Grattan Street. Click here for Google Map.
Q. What if my child cannot do ICP Exam on 28/03/2026? A. They can sit exam on 26/04/2026.
There are two other examinations scheduled on Sunday 26th April 2026 in St. Albans. You can choose to sit exam either (9.30AM-12.30PM) or (1.30PM-4.30PM).

How to register the ICP Exam?
To be eligible to join the ICP, students are required to take the ICP Entrance Exam. The exam fee is $85. Exam registration can be made online. After submitting online registration, an instant message displays on your screen with payment instructions. Test fee can be made via netbank transfer or deposit at Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

When is exam registration closed?
The closing date for the ICP Exam set on 28th March 2026 is closed by the end of Saturday 21st March 2026.
For ICP Exam set on Sunday 26th April 2026, the registration will be closed by the end of Sunday 19th April 2026.
